Netflix Around The World

  When it comes to a streaming platform, Netflix is the most popular globally, with 215 million subscribers in 2022. According to their website, Netflix is available in 190 countries, and their shows and movies vary based on the country and change frequently. The United States has the most films and shows than any other country, but just because you have the most streaming does not mean you have the best. According to IMDb, The United States has a movie rating of 6.95, while Ukraine, Portugal, and Russia are tied for the top with 7.13. South Korea has the most reputable catalog with 35 Emmy-winning shows and 109 Oscar-winning films. People will change their Virtual Private Network (VPN) to allow them to have a different choice of movies and shows to watch from other countries.  I will be looking at what the top movie and shows are in Ukraine, Russia, and Portugal on Netflix in March of 2022.

    


    According to Netflix, the top movie in Ukraine, Portugal, and Russia currently is the Netflix original film, The Tinder Swindler. This true story movie is about "A group of women who were the victims of a dating app-based swindler join together in an attempt to hunt him down and recover the millions of dollars that were stolen from them." The Tinder Swindler is the first documentary on Netflix that has achieved being on the list of the most popular films worldwide. The week of January 31- February 6, the movie clocked 45.8 hours viewed globally and hit the top 10 in 92 countries that week. The movie was released on February 2, so it only took five days for views to reach that high. 

    The top show in these countries is the Netflix original series, Inventing Anna. This true story is about "A journalist investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary heiress who stole the hearts and money of New York elites." The week of its release was viewed 196 million hours globally and was viewed 77 million hours on the weekend of its release. It is now the highest viewed series since its release on Netflix. 

    The global growth of Netflix plays a crucial role in why it is the most subscribed streaming service. Netflix is the top streaming platform as of right now, and they need to continue making content that resonates with audiences worldwide. People internationally can have in common the films or shows they watch, and Netflix does just that.

Social media advertising has become extremely popular. Companies can pay channels or accounts to advertise their products or even pay the social media company for banners.
