Glitter Bomb Exposing Porch Pirates

Glitter Bomb 4.0 VS Package Thieves
It is hard to come by when there isn't a moment you are on video surveillance unless you are at your own home. Video surveillance has helped police, stores with shoplifters, and porch pirates. Porch Pirates are people that steal packages off of the porch of innocent people. Sometimes these people get away with the package with no trouble. Recently, videos have been all over social media of bait packages luring porch pirates that are being filled with exploding peanuts and cameras to help catch the thieves.

A couple of weeks ago, I was on Youtube, and a particular video caught my attention. The video was titled "Exploding Glitter Bomb 4.0 VS Package Pirates." I had heard of Ring Doorbells catching people stealing packages off of porches, but I had not heard of the Glitter Bomb. The Glitter Bomb 4.0 was created by Youtuber Mark Rober. Before Youtube, Mark had worked for NASA for nine years on the engineering team. Using his background, he made the Glitter Bomb 1.0 in 2018 and posted a video getting over 87 million views. More than four years in the making, Glitter Bomb 4.0 has been engineered and is even better than Glitter Bomb 1.0.

Not only did Mark help others with thieves stealing their packages, he also helped the older community with callers saying they owed money and then tricking them into sending $12,000. Mark found an older lady in this situation, and glitter bombed the mule picking up the package. A "mule" is getting the money, picking up the packages, and sending it to the boss. The mule picked up the package from the house, and the GPS tracked her where she opened the package.

In the eighteen-minute video, videos of people in their own homes and cars are seen opening the bait package and being greeted with a ten-second countdown along with a camera. They are then exploded with glitter and a foul-smelling spray. The Glitter Bomb is a smart invention created by Rober to help catch these thieves and can potentially stop porch pirates in the future. Although it might no be sold to the public right now, hopefully it will be in the future. With video surveillance we can expose these thieves. Without video surveillance, the bait would not be as helpful as it is.
