 My Video Habits

Streaming services from 2007 VS. 2021
    When it comes to streaming videos, I am guilty of spending way too much time watching. There are so many different platforms and streaming services to watch videos. Social media such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok are some of the platforms I spend most of my time on. Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and Disney + are some of my favorites as well.  Streaming services have changed over the years, with Netflix and Hulu being the oldest. Now there are over 100 services to stream your favorite shows. With so many different services, it is not a surprise that so many people are addicted to streaming whenever they want to.

    Social Media

    I spend most of my time on Youtube to watch videos. I usually watch it at night before I go to bed and sometimes leave it playing when I go to sleep. I like to watch talk show interviews with my favorite people. Jimmy Fallon is probably my favorite to watch. I also watch Good Mythical Morning, which I have been watching for quite some time. Their videos come out Monday-Friday at 5 a.m., but I usually wait until bedtime to watch it. I even listen to some podcasts if I am trying to go to sleep or driving a long distance on Youtube. 
 
  TikTok is always my go-to when I have nothing to do, and I am trying to pass the time. My friends and I send videos back and forth. Sometimes I will get on, and my sister has sent me 15 videos to watch. TikTok is very addictive, and people would think I was crazy if they saw the time I spent on it during a week. My main page has been Elmo, dogs, and the new Disney movie, Encanto. My page changes every few weeks, but I think it is normal compared to others. 

    HBO Max

    I have a few favorite streaming services to watch TV shows, but currently, it is HBO Max. HBO Max has a lot of different movies and shows that other platforms don't have. Just like Netflix, HBO Max makes original movies and shows. Euphoria was my favorite show that came out a year ago. I binged watched it in about two days. Season 2 just came out in January, but I haven't started it since one episode comes out every Sunday, and I want to binge-watch it. The Righteous Gemstones is also a favorite. I started it with my older sister, and I finished it in a day. Season 2 also recently came out, and I have been watching those episodes as they come out. Full House is also on HBO Max, and I can just turn it on without having to put my full attention to it.

Netflix

    Netflix has always been a go-to of mine for as long as I can remember. I recently just finished You. I didn't completely binge-watch it, but I did finish it fast. It is mysterious and leaves you needing to know what happens next. I even got my mom to watch it, and she liked it as well. My favorite show, The Vampire Diaries, is also on Netflix, and I have watched it 3 times. It is one of those shows where if I need one to watch, it is always safe to start over and watch again. Documentaries are my favorite, and Netflix has some of the best. My family loves watching documentaries, and with my dad being a history professor, we watch a lot of history documentaries. My mom, sister, and I love murder mystery documentaries and could binge-watch those for days. Netflix also has really good reality TV. I watched The Circle a few months ago, and it was really interesting to watch. It puts people in a building where they only can talk through the TV, and they have to work together to vote the catfishes out and whoever is the most popular by the end, wins. In a world filled with social media, it was cool to see how we see people just by communicating through messaging. 

 Habits

    There are so many more shows and videos that I have watched. With the pandemic hitting when it did, I think it made people watch more videos, and with people still quarantining, it is one of the only things you can do stuck at home.  I may watch a lot of videos, but I don't think I am different from anyone else my age. Streaming is a way to bond with other people and connect with people all over the world.

 Advertising Analysis: Social Media     Advertising is a big deal in today's world, with social media being one of the main ways for companies to get exposure and sell their products. Social media advertising has become extremely popular. Companies can pay channels or accounts to advertise their products or even pay the social media company for banners. Engaging content to attract the user's attention and then send it to friends on the app. According to Pew Research Center , 7-in-10 Americans use social media to stay in touch, get news, and entertainment. *Picture Contains Link* Netflix Around The World   When it comes to a streaming platform, Netflix is the most popular globally, with 215 million subscribers in 2022. According to their website, Netflix is available in 190 countries, and their shows and movies vary based on the country and change frequently. The United States has the most films and shows than any other country, but just because you have the most streaming does not mean you have the best. According to IMDb, The United States has a movie rating of 6.95, while Ukraine, Portugal, and Russia are tied for the top with 7.13. South Korea has the most reputable catalog with 35 Emmy-winning shows and 109 Oscar-winning films.
